Headteacher Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and find out more about the academy.

Assessed by Ofsted in January 2019 as a good school, Looe Community Academy is a small co-educational 11-16 school of approximately 500 students which is part of SMART (South East Cornwall Multi Academy Regional Trust).

Although we are a small school we offer a broad curriculum and a wide range of qualifications at Key Stage 4.  We provide a friendly and caring environment in which to learn, whilst expecting high standards of engagement, behaviour and achievement. Our exam results are consistently good, demonstrating progress for students regardless of their ability.

Our aspirations for our students are embedded in our motto which is 'Bydh gwella gylli' - ‘Be the Best You Can Be’.

On our journey, the academy benefitted from gaining performing arts, maths and computing specialisms and while we have moved on from the specialism era, these have become integral to the academy's ethos, along with our strong drive for sporting excellence.  These all combine to offer so many benefits for students, providing opportunities for building confidence, teamwork, commitment, personal achievement, performance and fun.

The academy has established a wide range of extracurricular activities for students to enjoy and to encourage the positive development of wider skills and abilities.

Our core values are: respect, responsibility and resilience.

If you would like to find out more about the academy and what makes it a special place to learn then please get in touch.

Kind regards

Mr Scott Yalden
