We established the link with Looe’s twin town, Quiberon, and each student has been assigned a French pen pal.

Our students have engaged with a dynamic and challenging science curriculum this term, deepening their understanding of core concepts.

Y7 Invasion games and Fitness Mes in PE key focus leadership in PE and healthy Me.  With students reflecting on their effectiveness in games, skill levels and ability to warm up and cool down. 

Recently, pupils have been learning about physical descriptions.

This term, the history curriculum has come alive through critical thinking and exciting challenges.

This term, we’ve brought our Computer Science curriculum to life by connecting fundamental concepts to real-world applications and projects that spark student curiosity across all key stages. Our approach focuses on building technical skills alongside an appreciation for computing's diverse impact.

This term, the art and design department within KS3 lessons has focussed on the contextual studies area of the subject and moving through to elements of materials experimentation relevant to their themes. This embeds subjects’ knowledge and ensures the students understand development from being inspired by an artist. Eventually, they will respond personally, showing their inspiration. Artists they have studied have been varied in material theme and style. Every year, the group looks at Cornish artists during their initial research.

In Religious Studies this term we have enlivened the curriculum in the following ways:

Year 10 GCSE group visiting the Orthodox synagogue in Plymouth.

Year 9 hearing from a speaker from the Humanist movement as part of their studies on non-religious beliefs in the UK today.

Year 8 have had a speaker from the Kadampa Meditation Centre practice some meditation with them as part of their studies on Enlightenment.

At present, they are developing a deeper understanding of poetic devices by analysing modern song lyrics such as ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons. 

We want to congratulate all those young people who have secured their next steps, whether that be a sixth form place to study A Levels, an apprenticeship, a scholarship, a college course, further education, or employment. Well done! And we mean every student who worked hard to achieve their grades and open doors for the next stage of their educational journey!

Following the excitement of last week’s competition, the Year 7 girls took to the pitch for their turn in the Football in 5’ tournament—and what a fantastic display of talent, teamwork, and determination it was!

Taking place on Wednesday, 18 December 2024, this delightful event showcases the incredible talents of our KS3 and KS4 students.

We are excited to share with you the highlights from our recent trip to Adrenaline Quarry, where nearly 90 students took part in an action-packed day of karting and fun-filled challenges at the inflatable aqua park.

The trip was a fantastic opportunity for our students to bond, build teamwork skills, and create lasting memories with their peers. Accompanied by their tutors, Head of Year, and several dedicated support staff, the day was a huge success, full of excitement and personal growth.

The results were outstanding, with each tutor group producing exceptional poems. Although it was a challenge to choose, a selection of winning entries has been showcased, demonstrating the remarkable creativity and talent within our school community.

Please note that certificates will not be retained after October 2024 and, if not collected, are destroyed. Replacements are only available directly from exam boards for a fee (approx £50 for each certificate).

It is an organisation that thrives on innovation, teamwork, and language proficiency.
